Dr. Barnaby Fultan (Cary Grant) is de saaie wetenschapper die aan een verjongingsmiddel werkt, zonder succes. Tot het moment dat de chimpansee waar hij mee werkt, uitbreekt en het laboratorium overhoop gooit en per ongeluk de formule bereidt waar Fultan al jaren naar op zoek is. Fultan en zijn vrouw (Ginger Rogers) proberen het goedje uit met werkelijk de meest vreemde resultaten: zoals het steeds jonger worden met elke nieuwe dosis. Ook anderen wagen zich aan dit elixer, waaronder zijn norse baas en zijn secretaresse (Marilyn Monroe). Het resultaat is complete chaos.
