Shelly zit midden in het rouwproces om de dood van haar echtgenoot te verwerken. Alles lijkt goed te gaan met moeder en kind. Tot de dag dat een goede vriendin haar meeneemt voor een uitje. In een antiekwinkel valt haar oog op een wens steen. Thuisgekomen doet Shelly haar wens en dan gebeurt het.. uit de steen ontpopt zich het afschuwelijke dwergachtige monster Rumpelstiltskin. Het wezen heeft het gemunt op de ziel van Shelly's zoontje. Zij slaat op de vlucht maar lijkt niet te kunnen ontsnappen aan het onvermijdelijke. Het zo mooi begonnen sprookje verandert al snel in en huiveringwekkende nachtmerrie.
